Giving Thanks
I know that a great writer, whether it be writing a poem or telling a story, has a desire to have
the reader by his side, as if they were telling the story in person. When I write it’s important to
me to have the reader on the same page as I am. What may make perfect sense to me,
because I was there, might be hard for the reader to understand and get the real meaning, I am
trying to portray.
My favorite storyteller and speaker is Thomas S. Monson. It doesn’t matter if I read one of
his great stories, or listen to one of his talks. He always has me on the same page with him, as
if I was there. You can feel the voice fluctuations in the words he writes, as if he was talking
to you in person.
I wish to give thank those willing to take the time, to read over my writings. I realize the
things that I write may not be clearly understood. Using words to paint pictures can be
challenging when you are writing a story. My goal is to continually improve my writings.
Getting help from those who care about me with grammar, punctuation, or rephrasing a
sentence so it makes sense is much appreciated. It is important to me the reader understands
the thoughts and feelings I am trying to convey. Caring people who are good sounding boards
will always improve clarity when it is needed.
